Using Guru in languages other than English

This article explains how to adjust language settings across different areas of Guru.

Updating browser language preferences

Guru does not control browser language settings, but a browser's configuration may impact how content is displayed in Guru. These settings are especially useful for users who want to personalize the browser interface or auto-translate content. Each person would set this up for their individual browser.

Adjusting Chrome language settings

  1. Open Chrome, then click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. On the left sidebar, select Languages (or go to chrome://settings/languages).
  4. Under Languages, click Add languages to add a new one.
  5. After adding, click the three-dot menu next to the language and select:
    1. Display Google Chrome in this language
  6. Restart Chrome to apply the new display language.

Adjusting Microsoft Edge language settings

  1. Open Edge, then click the three-dot menu (...) in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. In the left-hand menu, click Languages.
  4. Under Preferred languages, click Add languages to add a new one.
  5. Click the three-dot menu next to the language and choose Display Microsoft Edge in this language to set it as the interface language.
  6. Restart Edge to apply the new display language.

Translating Card content using AI Assist

AI Assist can be configured to respond in different tones and languages using Custom Prompts. See: Using AI Assist to create and edit content

  • to Define language and tone: Add instructions like “Respond in Spanish” or “Use a professional tone.”

Understanding other language factors

Enterprise Search

  • Language alignment: Search queries should match the language of the indexed content. In other words, the response should be in the same language as the question by default.
    • If you'd prefer that the Answer is always in a specified language, Admins and Knowledge Agent Owners can adjust the Knowledge Agent Custom Prompt to include a line such as "Always respond in German."
