Setting up Monday as a Source

Use this guide to connect your Monday.com boards to Guru as a content source. Once connected, Guru will pull structured data from your Monday.com boards to power Answers across your workspace.

Access Required

Guru Access: You must be a Workspace Admin in Guru to connect Monday.com as a source.

**Monday.com Access:**You must have access to the boards and groups in Monday.com you intend to connect. Guru will authorize via OAuth and request permission to read board data.


Setting Up Monday as a Source

  1. Navigate to Manage in your Guru dashboard.
  2. Click on the Sources tab, then select Add Source.
  3. From the list of available sources, select Monday.com.
  4. You will be redirected to log in to your Monday.com account.
  5. Authorize Monday via OAuth to grant access to your account.
  6. After successful authentication, you’ll be prompted to:
    1. Select the Boards you’d like to sync.
    2. Choose specific Groups (tables) within those Boards.
  7. Choose which Guru Groups should have access to this source.
  8. Click Connect to finalize the integration.

Guru does not sync Monday.com permissions. You must assign Guru Groups manually during setup.

Guru pulls structured data from Groups (tables) on Boards in Monday.com. Each Group's items are treated as discrete objects for Answer generation.

Only public boards visible to the authenticating user will appear in the selection modal. If you'd like to include private boards, ensure they are shared with your connected user.


Frequently asked questions about Monday

Can I select private boards? Only boards the authenticated user has access to will appear. To include private boards, ensure they are shared appropriately.

Can I limit content to a specific group or column? You can select specific groups (tables) on a board, but all items within that group will be synced.

Is there a limit to how many boards I can connect? Guru currently supports connecting multiple boards, but the selection interface is limited to the first 25 visible boards.

Setting up your Monday.com connection

Navigate to sources

  1. Go to your Guru workspace homepage.
  2. Click Settings in the sidebar.
  3. Select Apps and Integrations.
  4. Click the Sources tab.
  5. Find and select Monday.com from the list of available sources.

Connect your Monday.com account

  1. Click Connect or Add Source for Monday.com.
  2. You'll be redirected to Monday.com for OAuth authorization.
  3. Log in to your Monday.com account if prompted.
  4. Authorize Guru to access your Monday.com data.
  5. You'll be redirected back to Guru to complete the setup.

Configure boards and groups

The Monday.com source allows you to select multiple boards and groups within a single integration.

  1. Select boards. Choose which Monday.com boards you want to sync to Guru.
  2. Select groups. Within each board, choose which groups (tables) to include.
  3. Review your selections. Confirm that you've selected all the boards and groups you need.
  4. Click Save to complete the setup.

Managing permissions

After connecting Monday.com, you'll need to manually assign access permissions in Guru.

Assign group access:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Team > Groups.
  2. Select the Guru groups that should have access to the Monday.com content.
  3. Add the Monday.com source to the appropriate groups.

❗ Important: Permission sync is not automatic. You must manually assign groups in Guru to control who can access Monday.com content through Answers.

Understanding sync behavior

Sync frequency: Your Monday.com data syncs to Guru every hour automatically.

What gets synced: All items from your selected groups (tables) on Monday.com boards are pulled into Guru and made searchable through Answers.

Data usage: This content becomes available as a source for generating answers when users ask questions in your workspace.

Advanced considerations

Legacy Monday.com source

If you're using the legacy Monday.com source, it will continue to work, but it's limited to one board and one group per integration. The new Monday.com source offers more flexibility by allowing multiple boards and groups in a single integration.
