Connecting Guru's MCP Server to Dust

Integrate Guru's MCP server with Dust to enable your AI assistants and workflows to access your organization's knowledge base

Connecting Dust

  1. Go to KnowledgeTools, then click Add Tool to see available MCP servers.
  2. The Guru MCP server is available by default without needing the reference the server's URL. Select it to proceed.
  3. Select your preferred authentication method:
    • Workspace credentials: All users will share the same connection (recommended for team-wide access)
    • Personal credentials: Each user connects with their own Guru account (recommended for personalized access)
  4. Click through to authorize the connection
  5. You'll be redirected to Guru's authorization screen
  6. Grant the necessary permissions to allow Dust to access Guru
  7. After authorization, you'll be redirected back to Dust

Customize Your MCP Server Settings

Once the server is added, you can customize the following settings:

  1. Name: Give your connection a descriptive name (e.g., "Guru MCP")
  2. Description: Add context about what this connection provides
  3. Stake levels: Configure action permissions for each tool:
    • High stake: Requires user confirmation for each action (recommended for data-modifying operations)
    • Low stake: Can be auto-approved by users (suitable for read-only operations)

Assign to Spaces

  1. Choose which spaces in your Dust workspace should have access to Guru tools
  2. You can assign the MCP server to:
  • Specific spaces (restricted access)
  • All spaces (workspace-wide access)
  1. Save your configuration

Start using Guru in your workflow

Once you're connected, your AI tool can:

  • Ask questions about your internal documentation
  • Search for specific topics across your knowledge base
  • Integrate Guru's AI capabilities into your development or writing workflows
