Using Guru on a mobile device

While Guru's desktop experience offers the most complete functionality, the mobile web app ensures you can access critical knowledge anytime, from anywhere. This guide walks through how to log in, get answers, share knowledge, and use key features like Assist on your mobile device—whether through the mobile web app or Slack.

Logging in to Guru’s mobile web app

  1. Open your mobile browser and go to: https://app.getguru.com.
  2. Enter your login details and tap Sign In, or tap Sign in with Google if that’s how you authenticate.
    • If your workspace uses SSO or SCIM, you may be redirected to your identity provider to complete sign-in.

Tip

Want to treat Guru like an app? On iPhones and iPads, add Guru to your home screen:
Tap the Share button, then tap Add to Home Screen.


Getting answers to questions

Mobile web app

  • In workspaces with Answers enabled, use the search bar to ask a question.
  • Guru will return a suggested answer along with source links.

On smaller screens, scroll down and tap Hide Filters to quickly access your search results.

Slack

  • In Answers-enabled workspaces, licensed users can ask @Guru a question in any channel or DM.
  • Guru will return a suggested answer, including source Cards used.

  • Message the Guru Slack app directly with a keyword.
  • Press enter and Guru will reply with relevant Cards.

Sharing information with others

Mobile web app

  • Tap the Share button on a Card to copy the link to your clipboard.
  • To copy the Card’s content:
    • Tap Copy Card content, or
    • Highlight and copy the text manually.
  • For text-based Cards, tap Download as PDF, then use your device’s share options to email, message, or post the file.

Slack

  • To answer a teammate’s question with a Guru Card:
    1. Tap the message in Slack to expand it.
    2. Tap the ellipses (⋯).
    3. Scroll to Shortcuts, or tap ⚡️ More Message Shortcuts.
    4. Select Answer with a Card, then search and share.

Summarizing or translating a Card

Mobile web app

In workspaces with Assist enabled:

  1. Tap the ⚡️ Summarize / Translate Card icon at the top of any Card.
  2. Choose a Summarize or Translate action from the list.
  3. The response will appear in a pop-up above the Card.

Frequently Asked Questions about using Guru on mobile

Are there features that are not recommended for mobile?

Yes. For the best experience, avoid using the following on mobile:

  • Card comments
  • Card usage analytics
  • Workspace settings
  • Tasks work queues
  • Card editing
  • Card Manager and Analytics dashboards (not available on small screens)

What is required to use Guru's mobile app?

Yes. The Guru mobile app supports:

  • iOS 12.1 or later
  • Android 10 (not supported on newer Android versions)
