Customizing your Workspace

Access Required

Workspace customization is only available with the All-in-one and Enterprise Guru plan. You must be a Guru admin to customize the Guru workspace theme.

Edit your workspace name

1. In the Guru web app, navigate to Manage and click Workspace Preferences.
2. Click Edit Name.
3. Type the name in the text box. Click Submit to save your edits or Cancel to keep the existing workspace name.

Upload your workspace logo

1. In the Guru web app, navigate to Manage and click [Workspace Preferences]
2. Select an image by dragging an image file to the pop-up window or by browsing for an image file on your computer.
   1. The maximum file size is 2MB.
   2. Acceptable file types include .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .gif.
   3. For a tall or portrait-size logo, we recommend resizing to 238 × 205 pixels.
   4. The image should be at least 32x32.

Add Custom Colors

1. In the Guru web app, navigate to Manage and click Workspace Preferences.
2. Click Edit custom theme.
3. Enter your preferred hex codes for the following:
   1. Navigation Background
   2. Accent Color
   3. Text and icons Color

The workspace will reflect a live preview of the custom colors as soon as you enter each hex code.

4. Click Save to save your changes or click Cancel to return the team's theme to its previous state.

Add Welcome message on homepage

Non-admin users will see an empty state message and image until a workspace admin customizes this side of the dashboard.

Custom content block

This is a text block with a header. It might contain information such as a summary of what your Guru instance will be used for, a company description, or a message from a team leader.

Customize the content block by using some light Markdown to add headers, bold/italics, and more. It is important to note that this block only supports strict markdown syntax, not HTML.

Featured Cards

Admins can choose which Cards appear in the workspace's featured Card section, located on the right-hand side of the user dashboard.

Can I apply more than one custom theme to my Guru workspace? Or, set different custom themes for different Groups?

The custom theme is a workspace-level setting, meaning, all workspaces within a Guru organization set their theme individually. At this time, the custom theme colors will be seen by all users in the workspace. The ability for different Groups to see different custom themes is the kind of feature request Guru’s product team would like to receive as Product Feedback in the Guru Community.

How do I ensure the color combination I've selected is accessible?

Please keep in mind, opening the door to endless color combinations in the Guru UI can present accessibility challenges. If you'd like to ensure there is a contrast between your navigation background and accent color compared to the text and icon color to ensure the Guru UI can be read easily, please use this tool.
