Frequently asked questions about Guru's Generative AI features

Which Guru plans include Answers and Assist?

All All-in-One and Enterprise plans include Guru’s Answers and Assist features.
Workspaces on legacy Builder or legacy Expert plans can contact our team or email [email protected] to inquire about access.

Can I disable or opt my team's data out of Answers and Assist?

Yes. Workspace Admins can disable these features in Manage > Workspace Preferences:

  • Disable Assist: Under Assist for Authors or Assist for Readers
  • Disable Answers: Under Enable Answers

❗️Important
Disabling these features will turn them off across the web app, browser extension, and Slack. Linked Answer sources will stop syncing.

Will data from my Guru workspace be revealed to users in other Guru workspaces?

No. Guru customer data is:

  • Never shared with other Guru customers.
  • Never used to train public large language models (LLMs).
  • Never stored in LLM infrastructure.

Guru remains compliant with industry certifications and customer-specific security and privacy standards.

Where is my data going when I use Guru Assist or Answers?

Guru uses OpenAI’s GPT via OpenAI’s public API.

  • Data is filtered within Guru first—only text from selected sources (e.g., Guru Cards, Google Docs, service tickets) is sent.
  • Submitted data and the resulting output is:
    • Immediately deleted by OpenAI (zero-day retention)
    • Not used to train OpenAI models

All data is processed and stored according to Guru’s Terms of Service and adheres to existing Guru security standards.
