  3. In the upper-right-hand corner of the webpage, enable "Developer Mode".
  4. Click "Update" on the top of the page to update the Extension.
  5. Check your Guru Extension to ensure it is toggled ON and the version has been updated to the most recent version.
  6. Refresh your webpage to ensure the update went through successfully.
  7. Navigate to a different webpage and open and close the extension to ensure it is performing correctly.

Managing Extension Preferences

To access your preferences, open your Guru extension, click your avatar and click Extension preferences. You'll then be able to check the box next to several preferences.

Default extension position
While using the Guru extension on top of various web pages, you may want to move the Guru pane from one side to the other. You can move the extension from right to left as you wish with the rectangular icon located at the top right of the extension. Guru will remember what side of the page you moved the extension to. The next time you open the extension, it will appear on the preferred side.

Display open Cards or profiles
When viewing multiple Cards or employee profiles at once in the extension, you have the option to view them individually or within a tabbed view. Here you can set your default view.

If you have multiple Cards open in the tabbed view, Guru will prompt you with a confirmation message upon clicking the exit button. You can disable this message in your extension settings as well.

Show Card Preview on Hover
With this enabled, you will see a preview of each Card in the browser extension when you hover over its title.

Enable Knowledge Clipper

With Knowledge Clipper, you can add Cards and search Guru based on the text on any underlying webpage. When you highlight text on a webpage and right-click, Guru will appear in the dropdown menu.

  • You can quickly highlight and search Guru more in context over any webpage you're using.
  • You can easily create a new Card in Guru using your highlighted text as the body. Selecting this option will automatically open the extension so you can finish creating the Card.

Display pinning confirmation
When attempting to push situational knowledge, reminders, or how-to's to your team, simply pin a Card to a specific URL.

Display question confirmation
This is a helper dialogue that appears in front of questions when you ask them. You may disable this by selecting 'Don't show me this again'.

Don't warn me when attempting to close multiple tabs
Define whether you want to be warned (or not) when closing multiple open Cards or profiles in the Guru extension.

Chrome extension keyboard shortcut set up

  1. Type chrome://extensions/shortcuts into your search bar
  2. Scroll to the Guru extension, and click in the shortcut field.
  3. Type your desired shortcut macro (i.e. Command + G) and that will appear in the shortcut field.
  4. Click Update to save.

Now when you use this command, the Guru extension and any Cards you've opened will pop out. Use the shortcut again to close the extension.

Frequently Asked Questions about Guru's browser extension

How do I ensure every member of my workspace installs the Guru extension?

Can I see which users in my Guru workspace are using the Guru extension?
There currently isn't a self-serve way to export a list of users with the extension installed.
