Filtering Analytics: Adjusting the Timeframe, Collection(s), Group(s), User(s) and Source Application(s)

The Analytics dashboard allows you to define the date, Collection, and Group parameters for all of the results using filters. Click on the β–Ά Filters at the top of each page to get the dropdown below. Once you have selected your filters, press the Run button (top right).

  • To define a time parameter for your statistics, mouse over the date filter on the top row. Then, select a timeframe or a specific date range on a calendar. All results will reflect the time filter you select.

  • To filter by Collection - mouse over the Collection filter, then type in or select the Collection you would like to filter by (Example: Collection is equal to Sales) in the dropdown. If there are multiple Collections, you can click the + to add more. All results then reflect the filter of Collections you select. This information allows you to coach your team based on the content areas that you manage.

  • To filter by Group - mouse over the Group filter, then type in or select the Group(s) in the dropdown you would like to drill down on for insight into their usage in Guru. All results will reflect the Group filter you select. With this information, you will be able to coach specific Groups of users on your team to increase engagement, adoption, and utilization of relevant content. Note that filtering by Group will not impact the Trust Score Over Time widget.

  • To filter by Source Application - mouse over the Source Application filter and then type in or select the Source Application you would like to drill down into by source. All results will reflect the Source Application filter you select. With this information, you will be able to analyze data specific to the source(s) that your team is using to access Guru. This filter is only available on the User and Collections tabs.

  • To filter by User - Mouse over the User filter on the User and Performance tab, then type in or select the specific user(s) in the dropdown you would like to drill down on for insight into their usage in Guru. All results will reflect the User filter you select. With this information, you will be able to coach a specific user or users on your team to increase engagement, adoption, and utilization of relevant content.

Frequently Asked Questions about Guru Analytics

How often does Analytics update?
The Analytics dashboard typically takes about 1-2 hours, 4 hours at most, to update with all your team's information. The timestamps used on the Analytics page are in UTC time.

How long should it take for the Analytics widgets to load?

Due to the nature of the content, the Analytics page will generally take around 5-10 seconds to load. If you are experiencing significant delays on the Analytics page, please reach out to our team using the chat widget on the bottom right-hand corner of this page.

Does moving a Card between Collections have an impact on data?

When using filters in the Analytics tool, be aware that Cards that have been moved between Collections will only highlight data tracked within the timeframe that the card has lived in the particular filtered Collection. Without filters, Card views will track all historical views regardless of what Collection that Card was in.

Can I see individual user Analytics?

Yes, by navigating to the Analytics > User tab you can filter by an individual user at the top of the page. You can also do this by clicking on the ellipses next to their name under User Views.

Are Analytics tracked within integrations (Slack, MS Teams, etc.) as well?

We track all active events across Guru's integrations.

How do I view analytics for public Cards?

Under the Collections or User tabs, click the drop-down menu under Source Application and select Public Card. The "Public User" User in Analytics dashboards refers to all external users (i.e. users that are not members of your Guru team). Cards that are not public do not have any "Public User" views.

What is the difference between trailing and total adoption?

Trailing Adoption shows the 30-day trailing count of active users and the 30-day trailing total users. When the Date filter is applied, the chart reflects the 30-day trailing data during that date range.

Total Adoption shows the percentage of total users who have performed an action during the timeframe specified in the filter. When the Date filter is applied, the bubble reflects the % of users who performed an action during that period.

If you change the Date filter to "is in last 30 days", you will see the last day on the chart for Trailing Adoption when calculated will equal the Adoption % in the bubble.

How do I determine activity from API usage?

You can view API-based activity by filtering the User analytics report by Source Application and selecting Guru API. In general, Guru recommends creating an API-only user, especially if your team plans on integrating Guru with several other applications.

How far back in time can I reference Guru analytics data?

You can view up to 12 months of analytics data. Download your team's analytics data to keep a longer archive.

How do I troubleshoot a discrepancy between what two users see on their Analytics dashboards?

We recommend referring to the "Important" note above and using the advice in this article for troubleshooting Card access and user permissions to get to the root of the issue. When troubleshooting search analytics, it's important to remember all results are tied to the available/accessible content at the time of searching.

Where can I find more information on Card usage?

There are three places we can recommend exploring and pulling information from. Analyzing Card usage goes over the Card updates and details tab of the individual Card, as well as, how to use the Collection Analytics dashboard to drill down and see specific user views. You can also use Card Manager filters to understand and analyze Cards.
