Light users can be provisioned through Okta, Azure, and OneLogin SCIM. We are investigating how we can integrate Light users with other SCIM 2.0 providers, in the future. You must already have SCIM enabled before following the steps below to add Light users through Azure push groups.

Adding Light Users to Guru through Azure

  1. Navigate to the Azure Active Directory App within your Microsoft Azure portal.

  2. Create a new Group in Azure by selecting Groups from within the Azure Active Directory page and then selecting the New group button.

  3. Create a new group and title it GURU:Light User Group. The group name must match the exact spelling, capitalization, and spaces here: GURU:Light User Group.

  4. On the Members page, click Add members. Search and select each of the members you want to add to the group, and then choose Select. Add any member of your team who you want to be a Light user in Guru to the GURU:Light User Group. Read more in Microsoft’s help center here.

    1. If you add a team member to this group who is already provisioned in Guru as a Core user, they will be automatically downgraded to a Light user.

  5. Now, navigate to your Enterprise applications and select All applications. Here, you can assign the new Light user Group to the Guru App by selecting Guru from your applications, selecting users and groups, and clicking add user/group.

  6. Next from the add assignment page, click on the link under users and groups and search for the new GURU:Light User Group you just created. Click the Group name to associate this group with the application.

💡 Tip
If you aren’t seeing the changes you make reflected in Guru, check your application’s provisioning schedule in Azure. You can do this by selecting Enterprise Applications, clicking on your application name, and then selecting Provisioning.

Upgrading a user from Light to Core through Azure

  1. Add the Light user you want to upgrade to any other Guru provisioned group in Azure outside of the Light user group.

  2. Next, remove the user from the Light user group (GURU:Light User Group) in Azure.

  3. This user will then automatically be converted from a Light user to a Core user. You will see that change reflected in the billing settings of the Guru Web App.

Downgrading a user from Core to Light through Azure

Simply add the user to the Light user Group (GURU:Light User Group) in Azure. Doing so will convert the Core user to a Light user and automatically change their permissioning in Guru removing them from all groups except the All Members group as a Read-Only user.

Deleting a Light user through Azure

Remove the user from the Light user Azure group. Be sure they aren’t attached to any other group or individual assignment. It's important to note that unlinking or deleting GURU:Light User Group entirely won't remove the Light users from Guru. Make sure to delete the users from within that group first and then delete the group.
