It's easy to create and collaborate on knowledge directly in Guru. There's no need to go elsewhere to ask questions or clarify information – you can communicate easily with your teammates and other stakeholders on the knowledge article itself.

Commenting on Cards

1. Open up a Card.

2. Click the Comments section on the top middle of the Card.

3. Add your comment by pressing enter. To ensure your team gets an alert about the comment, @mention them. You can @mention individual team members, Groups, or your entire team.

💡Tip

Individual team members and Groups must be a part of the Collection the Card is in to be @mentioned. If you @mention your entire team, it will notify every team member who has access to the Card you commented on.


4. To chat about a specific topic, you can respond to a user using the Reply button to start a threaded conversation in the comments.

5. To edit or delete your comment, place your cursor over the comment, click the ellipses that appears, and select Edit or Delete. If editing your comment, press enter to save your changes.

6. Once you've added a comment, anyone you've @mentioned will receive an email or Slack notification with your comment as well as the Card you referenced. This article breaks down when exactly users will receive notifications of comment activity.

Resolving Comments and Comment Threads

If someone requests an edit or update to a Card, and that change is completed, you can resolve that comment or thread if you've created that comment or you have Author, Collection Owner, or Admin access to that Card.

  1. Click on the checkmark ✓ symbol next to that comment.

  2. The comment and thread will then be moved to the Resolved tab. You can always refer back to this column to review resolved comments on a Card.


✍️ Note

Authors, Collection Owners, Admins and the original commenter, all have permission to delete or resolve a comment or thread.


Reopening Comments and Comment Threads

If you want to revisit a resolved conversation, you can reopen the thread.

  1. Navigate to the Resolved tab and find the comment or thread you want to reopen.

  2. Click on the ellipses, then choose Reopen. This will move the comment and corresponding thread back to the Open column.

Reviewing Comments

  1. Navigate to the Mentions tab under My Tasks in the Guru web app.

  2. Here, you'll find all comments that you have been @mentioned on a Card.

Replying to Comments

  1. Navigate to the Mentions tab under My Tasks in the Guru web app.

  2. Here, you'll find all comments that you have been @mentioned on a Card.

  3. Hover on the right-hand side of the comment you'd like to reply to and select the Reply (💬) button.

  4. You'll be brought to the Comments section of the Card to reply to that thread.

Dismissing Comments

  1. Navigate to the Mentions tab under My Tasks in the Guru web app.

  2. Here, you'll find all comments that you have been @mentioned on a Card.

  3. Hover on the right-hand side of the Comment you'd like to dismiss and select the Dismiss (❌) button.

How are my mentions ordered?

The way mentions are ordered in the extension in reverse chronological order, dating back 1 month. Similarly, mentions are ordered in the web app by default with the most recent mentions first (dating back one month). You can also sort the order using the column title.
